Greece
Greece is one of Europe’s most beloved travel destinations, and its LGBTQI+ scene has grown significantly in recent decades. Same-sex partnerships have been legally recognised since 2015, and while conservative attitudes persist in rural areas, the major cities and popular island destinations are notably welcoming. Mykonos in particular has been a global LGBTQI+ travel icon for over 50 years.
Athens hosts an annual Pride march that has grown substantially, and Thessaloniki holds its own. Greek law does not yet extend full marriage equality (civil unions only), and same-sex adoption rights are limited — but public attitudes in tourist-facing areas are generally relaxed and hospitable.
